Review:

This is a classic book that I was told was a must-read and highly recommended.  Its reviews indicated that it was a read that could still be appreciated by adult readers and I was keen to give it a go expecting something in line with “Redwall”.  This was definitely nothing like “Redwall”.

Have you ever seen “Blues Clues” as an adult?  You can still understand why it would appeal to kids, but it’s also like pulling teeth for you to listen to it?  That’s what “Watership Down” was for me.  After giving it about 125 pages I gave up on trying to slog through the book just for the sake of reading a beloved classic.  I can see the book is well-written and even how it could be endearing to those who read it for the first time as a kid, but I could not get invested enough to care what happened next.

Rating: 1 star! (Did Not Finish)

Who should read it? Middle grade kids and those who want to revisit a childhood classic.
