Congratulations by the Way

Summary:

Three months after George Saunders gave a graduation address at Syracuse University, a transcript of that speech was posted on the website of “The New York Times”, where it’s simple, uplifting message struck a deep chord. Within days, it had been shared more than one million times. Why? Because Saunders’s words tap into a desire in all of us to lead kinder, more fulfilling lives. Powerful, funny, and wise, "Congratulations, by the way is an inspiring message from one of today’s most influential and original writers.  (Summary and cover courtesy of goodreads.com)

Review:

I expected this book to be an expansion on the commencement speech discussing the topics that were covered in a little more depth.  Instead, this is just a bound version of the speech with some art interspersed throughout it.  It is indeed a great speech and something well worth your attention if you have a few minutes, however, I don’t think you need to buy a book to do so.

Rather than borrowing or buying this book, I’d recommend googling it and you can read it (or watch it) in its entirety.

Rating: 3 stars!

Who should read it? Not really worth it unless you’d like to own a copy.
