Legends & Lattes

Summary:

After a lifetime of bounties and bloodshed, Viv is hanging up her sword for the last time.

The battle-weary orc aims to start fresh, opening the first ever coffee shop in the city of Thune. But old and new rivals stand in the way of success — not to mention the fact that no one has the faintest idea what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the blade behind her and make her plans a reality, she won't be able to go it alone.

But the true rewards of the uncharted path are the travelers you meet along the way. And whether drawn together by ancient magic, flaky pastry, or a freshly brewed cup, they may become partners, family, and something deeper than she ever could have dreamed. Review:

This is a wonderful cozy read that is similar to my review for “The House Witch”: If you want a fast-paced action-packed read, this is not the one for you.  Despite that, I do think this book is well-paced and plenty of tension to keep things interesting.  Don’t be intimidated if you’re not a Dungeons & Dragons player, if you are at all superficially aware of D&D you’re going to understand things.  Essentially it asks the question – what do you do when the campaigning is done?  I’m not a D&D player and still found this adorable.

Viv is exploring a new style of life, and her modest goals are delightful.  As she tries to muddle along and how she can make things work, we get an insight to quiet moments with people trying to establish a good life.  If the world is feeling particularly overwhelming to you one day, this is a perfect one to pick up and remember there is a great community out there for everyone.

Rating: 4 stars!
